Exploring and understanding your sexual identity in isolation after creating a life around heterosexual and/or cisgender norms can be overwhelming.

You do not have to figure it all out on your own.

I help you explore and express your sexual identity so that you can gain clarity, stop living in fear, and finally embrace your authentic, sexual self.

I will help you explore and then integrate your queer identity with the rest of your life, even when it feels scary.

The payoff is queer joy, and it’s worth it.

If you are feeling “new” or “behind” to being queer, I got you.

It’s common for LGBTQ+ people to come out as adults. You are not “too late.

Meet Chelsea Newton

I’m Chelsea, a bisexual, queer sex therapist working in Colorado. My passion is helping other queer people overcome fear and anxiety related to sex and sexuality and embrace their authentic self.  As a queer person who “came out” in my 20s, I was terrified. I felt late to the game and did not have a queer coming of age story from my childhood or teen years like so many other LGBTQ+ people I looked up to. Coming out as bisexual in my 20s was met with mixed reactions, some good, some just downright bi-phobic, and plenty of “are you sure?” kinds of questions.

Understanding and embracing your sexual identity in isolation is incredibly difficult. It can feel SO risky (vulnerable) to ask those around you for help.  Will I lose this friend or family member if I share this part of me? Will they judge me? Will they ask questions I’m not prepared to answer? The good news is, you don’t have to do this alone. As a sex therapist in Colorado, I specialize in helping people explore, express, and embrace their sexual identity so they can feel less overwhelmed and live authentically.

As a queer person, I have first hand knowledge of how overwhelming and scary it can be to explore, express, and embrace your queerness (especially if it’s new!) Integrating your queerness with the rest of your life can be challenging. However, working through these challenges has a huge payoff. I know this through my own experience and the experiences of so many clients I have supported over the years. What’s the payoff? QUEER JOY.

I graduated from Widener University’s Center for Human Sexuality Studies in 2014, where I was trained as a Clinical Sexologist (aka Sex Therapist). I have a Masters in Social Work (MSW) as well as a Masters in Human Sexuality Education (M.Ed.). I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Colorado and have worked in public service as a social worker supporting children and families for nearly a decade in Denver, Colorado.

All that to say, I hold a lot of knowledge about sex and sexuality and have a decade of experience in the mental health and social work fields. My approach to therapy is simple, you are human and so am I. I am not the expert of you, but I can guide you toward your highest and most authentic self. If you are a baby queer or questioning LGBTQ+ person, I would love to support you. You deserve support now for an authentic life.
